To vote in the upcoming May 2022 elections, you need to:
Reclaim your citizenship if you haven’t already, to get a Lebanese ID or passport
Be 21+ by March 30th, 2022

As you may already know, current Lebanese Law prohibits your involvement in the elections if you are born to a Lebanese mother and a non-Lebanese father. This is really unfair, but it can change. There are campaigns working on changing this law. If you'd like to take action, or find out more, click here

Complete the online eligibility form
Complete the online form at http://lebanity.gov.lb to check your eligibility - include as much information as possible about your paternal family tree, you will need to know the name of your ancestor’s original home town.
Print and complete the Arabic registration application form, we can help with that.

Contact your nearest embassy and submit the following required documents to be submitted with your registration application form
Contact your nearest embassy to find out if your paternal ancestor was a. Registered under the 1932 residents’ census or b. Registered under the 1921-1924 residents’ & emigrants’ census or the 1932 emigrants’ census

Prepare the following documents with your registration application form and deliver them to your nearest embassy or consulate either in-person or by mail (scanned copies only, no phone photos or emails)

Provide a proof of family sequencing (birth certificates, inheritance inventory, etc.) with your registration application form and deliver them to your nearest embassy or consulate either in-person or by mail (scanned copies only, no phone photos or emails)
Track the status of your application using your applicant number and date of birth
It should take between 6 to 12 months to be processed.

Register your parents’ marriage in Lebanon.
If your parents’ marriage is not registered in Lebanon then they must prepare and deliver the following documents to their nearest Lebanese embassy/consulate:

To avoid not being able to vote, once you have obtained a Lebanese ID or passport: it is crucial that you check that your name is correctly added to on the electoral lists (kawa’im intikhabet, القوائم الانتخابية ) on Feb 1st 2022 and appeal before March 1st 2022, following the steps below.

Search for yourself in the database of electoral lists using your village or neighborhood, and then your sect, and then your gender.
If your name and information is correct, that’s great, you will be able to vote next election with no issues.
If not, you need to fill out one of the two request forms offered on the DGCS website and get the signature of your Ambassador or Consul from your Lebanese Embassy or Consulate and submit before March 1st 2021:
a.) Form to include a citizen on the electoral list
b.) Form to correct a citizen’s info on the electoral list
c.) Form to include a citizen on the electoral after reconsideration in case you were removed
Note: the electoral lists are drawn up yearly and are basically a long list of all citizens who are eligible to vote. If you manage to get your citizenship before the end of 2020, you can already check early that your name is correctly added to the electoral list on Feb 1st 2021 and appeal before March 1st 2021, also following the steps above.
The deadline to register online to vote abroad at your Lebanese embassy or consulate is November 20th 2021 (6 months before the elections take place in May 2022).
Subscribe and Sawti will inform you once the online registration opens - you will need either a Lebanese ID or an unexpired Lebanese Passport to conduct this registration.
Note: Once you register to vote at your embassy or consulate abroad you will no longer be allowed to vote in Lebanon, and therefore must vote there.

If you have Lebanese ID but it doesn’t have a photo or has a baby photo and no Lebanese passport, the easiest thing to do is apply for a passport abroad.
If you don’t have a Lebanese ID (were never issued one or lost it) nor a Lebanese passport, you have 2 options:

Note: It could take between 3 to 12 weeks at least from the date of submission to receive your new passport, depending on the Embassy and the service type.
